Road Trip to The Green Light District!

Hello Fans,


This weekend, we decided to put a new twist on our traditional Road Trip. Instead of heading out of town, we visited an area in our home base of New Orleans called the Green Light District. The Green Light District is composed of six eco-friendly stores in a two block area of Magazine Street, a popular shopping destination. 


Our first stop on our hometown road trip was Spruce Eco-Studio, an eco-modern home decor store. The pieces in Spruce are beautiful!

Next door to spruce is Green Serene, an eco-lifestyle boutique. We all did some shopping at Green Serene! Amanda and Beckie each bought TOMS shoes and Carly bought a cute journal.

We also had a lot of fun trying on the vintage clothes and eco-friendly clothes at Branch Out! Branch Out also donated some cans for our campaign.

 Next, we stopped by UP/Unique Products. UP features artists that make beautiful pieces from recycled materials. We especially liked the lights made from recycled Mardi-Gras beads!

And finally, we paid a visit to Zukababy, a natural parenting boutique. The organic baby clothes were so adorable!

We had so much fun at our hometown Road Trip! Sometimes the best adventures can be found right in your own city. We want to thank all the store owners at Green Light District for their support! We can't wait to visit again!

Road Trip to Memphis!

Hello Fans! 


We visited our third tiger supporting school at the University of Memphis this weekend! We were so excited to be in Tennessee and to show off the CR-Z to all the University of Memphis fans.

We had a lot of fun chatting with fans and collecting cans outside the stadium. We promoted our campaign and got to cheer on yet another Tiger team!

The University of Memphis was playing the University of Tennessee. Although the teams are huge rivals, we managed to find common ground between these two fans:

Road Trip to LSU

This weekend the Road Trip Crew rode to another tiger-crazy University: Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. The trip is only an hour and a half away but Baton Rouge is totally different than New Orleans, and we loved it!

We had a great time showing off the awesome features of the CR-Z to our new friends at LSU! They loved the look and feel of the car and never wanted us to leave. We had a tough time getting them out of the car!

LSU is also home to Mike the Tiger, the LSU mascot! Mike lives in a beautiful enclosure outside the stadium and has lots of fans. He really is a beautiful creature and he reminded us just how important it is to protect the environment. We love Mike and are so excited to be working towards a "green" cause because we want to help Mike and all of our natural creatures thrive!

Road Trip to Auburn

Hello Blog Fans, 

This weekend the Road Trip Crew took their "Riding on Recycling" campaign to Auburn University. The Crew had a great time on their road trip and were able to really experience the Honda CR-Z on their six hour journey to Auburn. One of our favorite features of the CR-Z is the ECON mode that allows the car to ride partially on battery power for great fuel mileage. The Crew used this mode during their entire trip and were really impressed by the CR-Z's great fuel economy. We rode at an average of 40 MPG during the trip!

Before our trip, we created some recycling bins especially for our campaign that featured our new Riding on Recycling campaign logo. We had so much fun using our recycling campaign to connect with our new friends at Auburn and to promote the Honda CR-Z.

One of the highlights of the trip was that the Road Trip Crew was able to reach a very wide audience at Auburn. From students to adults alike, the Crew spread the word about the CR-Z and their goal to "Ride on Recycling". The spirited Auburn fans were happy to help in our recycling efforts.

Auburn University also had a great recycling program that is publicized all throughout campus. We were inspired by this program and hope to bring this eco-friendly mindset back to Tulane University. We really enjoyed our Road Trip and can't wait to "Ride on Recycling" again next weekend! 

Week 2 Update

Hello Blog Fans! 


The CR-Z Road Trip Crew has been very busy this week! First, we held a great event outside the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house at Tulane University. We parked the CR-Z outside the house and let our visitors check out the car.

We also provided soda at the event and encouraged visitors to recycle their cans to support our cause.

After the Kappa event, we had enough cans to go and visit the Uptown Recycling Center in New Orleans. We were very excited to see how much money we had made by collecting cans all week!

We were very excited to find out that we had collected enough cans to raise $10 to support our upcoming road trip to Auburn University. We had so much support from our fans this week and had a great time promoting the Honda CR-Z!

Week 1 Update

Hello All! 


It's only Tuesday and already this week has been a great success for the Honda CR-Z Road Trip Crew! This past weekend was the homecoming game at Tulane University. This game included a University sponsored tailgate and Beckie and Carly took advantage of this opportunity to start our can collecting effort. They had a great time collecting cans and promoting the Honda CR-Z Road Trip. It was an awesome jump start to our adventure!

Then, on Monday afternoon, we were so excited to celebrate the arrival of our brand new, sparkling, silver Honda CR-Z! It is beautiful and such a great car to drive!

We're Riding on Recycling!

Hello Blogosphere!

We are very excited to announce the start of the Honda CR-Z Road Trip 2010. I'd like to begin with a short introduction of the Road Trip Crew: My name is Amanda, and I, along with my partners Beckie and Carly, are currently seniors in the A.B Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. We are so excited to be able to drive the amazing new Honda CR-Z for the next six weeks and are looking forward to telling you all about our adventures! We will be posting all sorts of tidbits about the CR-Z as well as some more fun info about ourselves, so keep checking in to learn more! We'd also love to hear feedback from you and any advice or fun tips you may have to help us on our journey. 

This is the plan: each weekend for the next six weeks, we will be road tripping throughout the South in our Honda CR-Z hybrid. We will visit a different University each weekend and will fund our gas expenses with recyclables collected at each stop! We will be relying on the support of students and fans alike at each school to help us fund our trip by collecting cans. So, if we're heading your way, please start collecting as many cans as possible so we can turn our plan into a reality and fund our gas expenses with only recycled cans! 

Look out for us at Louisiana State University, University of Mississippi, University of Houston, University of Memphis, and Tulane University.
